The introduction of the "Implementation Opinions on Deepening the Reform of the Examination and Enrollment System" has broken the previous situation of "one examination for life" for students, and also advanced their choice of future career development to the stage of secondary school selection. How to make a good choice of subjects, make a good career planning, and how to "buckle the first button" for future career development has become a new problem that every middle school student must face.Career construction theory puts forward that career adaptability is the core index to measure the career development of middle school students and the key ability to achieve career success. However, most studies have taken college students or working people as samples, and few studies have explored the development status and influencing factors of middle school students’ career adaptability.Based on this, this study will explore the development status and characteristics of middle school students’ career adaptability, and combine the current hot topic of society-"double reduction" policy,as well as ecological systems theory and self-determination theory,to explore the specific mechanism between parental and teacher autonomy support and career adaptability,in order to provide a new training path for improving the level of middle school students’ career adaptability.A cross-sectional and longitudinal study design was used to survey over 3,000 secondary school students using a questionnaire method that included three sub-studies:Study 1,based on the theory of career adaptability at home and abroad, revised the career adaptability questionnaire for middle school students;Study 2,From a crosssectional and longitudinal research perspective, deeply understand the current situation and development characteristics of middle school students’ career adaptability;Study 3,on the basis of Study 2,further explored the influence of parental and teacher autonomy support on middle school students’ career adaptability and the role of core selfevaluation.According to the three studies, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The revised career adaptability scale for middle school students includes six dimensions: career concern, career self-confidence,career interpersonal, career control, career curiosity and career adjustment. The reliability and validity indexes of the scale are in line with the psychometric standards and can be used as a tool to evaluate the career adaptability of middle school students.(2)The career adaptability of middle school students is at the upper middle level, but there is still much room for development in the future. At the same time, the level of career adaptability of middle school students will show certain development characteristics due to the change of time, which is first decreased and then increased.(3)The career adaptability of middle school students is significantly different in demographic variables such as gender, grade, parental education level and family annual income.Specifically, the development level of career adaptability of male students is better than that of female students; The scores of career adaptability of senior three and junior one students are the highest, and the scores of junior two and senior two students are the lowest;Parents’ education level and family annual income are proportional to the development level of middle school students’ career adaptability, that is,the higher the parents’ education level and annual income level, the more absolute the students’ career adaptability development level.(4)There is a positive correlation between teacher autonomy support, parental autonomy support, core self-evaluation and career adaptability;Teacher autonomy support and parental autonomy support positively predict core self-evaluation and career adaptability;Core self-evaluation positively predicts career adaptability.Core self-evaluation plays a mediating role in the relationship between parental and teacher autonomy support and career adaptability. This shows that parental and teacher autonomy support can not only directly affect the level of career adaptability of middle school students, but also affect their level of career adaptability through core selfevaluation.According to the above research results, this study provides the following reference suggestions for improving the career adaptability of middle school students:School and teacher level:(1)Strengthen the comprehensive quality of teachers, the formation of career education teachers;(2)Improve the career planning education system to help students’ career development;(3)Pay attention to home-school cooperation, create a good environment for development.Family level:(1)Change the concept of education, enhance the awareness of career planning;(2)Provide autonomy support and create a positive family atmosphere.Individual level:(1)Change the ideological attitude, improve career planning ability;(2)Proactive career exploration, enhance self-awareness.
