Research On The Communication Of "Yangdian Dragon Lantern" Under The Ritual View Of Communication

The dragon dance movement is widely present in China,exhibiting a unique folk activity due to its geographical and historical cultural background.As one of the representatives of dragon culture in Xiaogan,Hubei,Yangdian Dragon Lantern is a unique folk activity in Yangdian Town,Xiaogan City.Because of its long history and large number of dragon lanterns,Yangdian Town is also known as the "hometown of dragon lanterns".From the theoretical perspective of James Carey’s "ritual view of communication",the Yangdian Dragon Lantern Festival is studied as a cultural communication phenomenon.Case study and participatory observation methods are used to examine the communication elements that constitute the ceremony,analyze the communication context constructed by cultural symbols,and further explore its social impact.Firstly,the historical origin and development process of Yangdian Dragon Lantern are sorted out,and on this basis,a complete overview of the ritual process of playing Dragon Lantern is provided,including the participants,time,and specific links.Secondly,deconstructing the ritual of playing dragon lanterns,by describing the communication symbols and venues in the ceremony,interpreting the symbolic meaning of the symbols and the rules contained in the ceremony,outlining the communication context of the folk construction of Yangdian dragon lanterns.In this context,people engage in cultural sharing and gain common cultural memories.Finally,by analyzing the interpersonal relationship and group relationship behind the communication situation,this paper expounds the reason why the Yangdian Dragon Lantern,as a cultural sharing ceremony,connects the villagers.In this process,the villagers strengthened their recognition of the Chinese Volksgemeinschaft based on common goals and beliefs,and passed on and carried forward the Chinese national culture in the process of playing the Dragon Lantern.Yangdian Dragon Lantern,as a ritual of social interaction,not only provides villagers with opportunities for interaction and sharing cultural significance,but also strengthens the connection between villages through the process of meaning co construction,maintaining social stability.
