Wang Yanmei,whose courtesy name was Lufang and style name was Lifang,was a member of the "Eight Masters of Qing Dynasty Prose" from Kuaiji,Zhejiang.His prose works have unique ideas and aesthetics,and had a certain position in the world of literary prose in the late Qing Dynasty.This article takes Wang Yanmei’s prose as the research object and analyzes his works from three aspects: ideological content,artistic characteristics,and value influence,revealing the characteristics and achievements of his prose creation.Apart from the introduction,this article is divided into four chapters:Chapter 1 is about Wang Yanmei and his prose creation.By sorting out Wang Yanmei’s life experiences and social connections,this chapter explores the impact of his life on prose creation.Using quantitative statistics,literature analysis,and other methods,it examines the creative situation of Wang Yanmei’s prose,such as number of works and versions,providing a literary basis for subsequent research.Chapter 2 discusses the forms and content of Wang Yanmei’s prose works.From the aspects of form and content,it concludes that Wang Yanmei’s prose has a strong self-expression and a tendency towards unrestrained and arbitrary expression.Chapter 3 analyzes the artistic characteristics of Wang Yanmei’s prose from three perspectives: application of form,expression,and techniques.As a whole,Wang Yanmei’s prose shows a bold and vigorous artistic character.Chapter 4 explores the value and influence of Wang Yanmei’s prose.His prose has three values: providing reference materials for biographies,reflecting the overall trend of Qing Dynasty’s cursive prose language,and bringing different aesthetic experience to readers.Wang Yanmei’s characteristic of writing with personal emotion,true nature,and authenticity demonstrates a unique art style among the Eight Masters of Qing Dynasty Prose,which has been studied and referenced by later generations,and has had a certain impact on the creation and development of cursive prose after the Qing Dynasty.
