As the birthplace of Chinese civilization and the core of traditional Chinese culture,the Yellow River culture is a major force in China’s international communication practice,and an important factor in shaping China’s national image and "telling the Chinese story and spreading the Chinese voice".The current international communication environment has undergone profound changes,and the background of mobility,complexity and uncertainty has made it more urgent for countries to shape their national image,build international communication capacity and improve international communication effectiveness.Using computational communication research methods,this study crawled all tweets on Twitter from September 18,2019 to September 18,2022,using "Yellow River" and "Yellow River culture" as keywords,with a total of 5959 tweets.After data cleaning,descriptive analysis and sentiment analysis were conducted for 3845 tweets.Firstly,we found that the sentiment of tweets related to Yellow River culture was mainly neutral,followed by positive sentiment accounting for 8.8% and a small amount of negative sentiment accounting for 3.9%.It was further found that the negative sentiment expressions were mainly about the disasters caused by the Yellow River floods,while the natural landscape during the Yellow River flood season was the main motivation to trigger users’ positive sentiment expressions.In addition,this study further focuses on the international communication of Yellow River culture by Chinese media,and uses the LDA theme model to explore the potential themes of Yellow River culture tweets pushed by Chinese media.The results were divided into four categories: high communication efficiency themes,low communication efficiency themes,high communication potential themes,and low communication potential themes.After detailed analysis,the high communication efficiency theme is based on the ecology of Yellow River,especially the scenic area of Hukou waterfall;the low communication efficiency theme is based on local hard news,such as the convening of the symposium on ecological protection and highquality development of Yellow River basin,the successful completion of Zhenluo Yellow River Bridge,etc.;the high communication potential theme is based on the ecology and scenery of Yellow River basin,such as the ecology of wetlands in Qinghai province,which are less pushed by the media;and the low The themes with low communication potential account for most of the total themes,and the content of the themes is more mixed,and the categories are also mostly news and information.Based on the results of the promotion and attention of different themes,the communication practice of the four categories of themes is improved.In the future,the Chinese media will rely on the beauty of the Yellow River to explore the context of communicative communication,and continue to promote the theme of the Yellow River scenery with high quality;combine international issues to disseminate the Yellow River culture content,reduce the international communication of local news,and the media should achieve the realm of "based on local,global" in the process of international communication.The media should promote cultural exchange and interaction by relying on natural scenery,and turn the theme of high communication potential into an efficient one;based on the context of the times,dig deeper into the core values of the Yellow River,adhere to the proposition of "creative transformation and innovative development",and change the perspective of the Yellow River culture "based on contemporary times,digging deeper into the value " We will also focus on the integration and development of the Yellow River culture,and combine the current cutting-edge technology and creativity to enhance the effectiveness of international communication of the Yellow River culture. |
