Chinese society,politics,economy and culture.In the changing and developing international environment,economic policy and cultural background,it has written the cultural form and unique artistic expression of film in different historical contexts.Since the beginning of the new century,with the continuous expansion of the film industry and the massive expansion of the capital and industrial market,Chinese films have quickly adapted to the transformation and innovation of the film culture industry under the background of globalization and entered the stage of prosperity and development.Breaking the clear dividing line between commercial films and theme films,China’s new mainstream films not only integrate commercial production methods and artistic expression methods,but also spread and display China’s core values and social ideological characteristics,establish national image and cultural confidence,and become the pillar force of China’s current head film market.Won the market box office and the audience word-of-mouth double harvest.This paper takes China’s new mainstream films since the new century as the research object,defines and summarizes the concept of China’s new mainstream films,sorts out the development and evolution of China’s new mainstream films,interprets the narrative characteristics and cultural turn of the new mainstream films,and discusses from multiple perspectives such as narrative content,narrative strategy and cultural turn,and finds that its narrative expression is not mature.On this basis,it reflects on the diversified artistic expression paths of the new mainstream films and puts forward the development paradigm and reference ideas of the future Chinese new mainstream films.The first chapter mainly expounds the popularization of narrative content from the perspective of narrative presentation and value implication of new mainstream films.Firstly,it analyzes the narrative subject of the new mainstream films,and reflects the multi-level and innovative shaping of the characters in the new mainstream films by focusing on the small figures to show the big times,shaping the diverse group figures and the popular people’s heroes,and paying attention to the new youth images and youth cultural expression.Secondly,it analyzes the narrative theme of the new mainstream films,and reflects the multi-dimensional and deep expression of the narrative theme of the new mainstream films from five perspectives,namely,the interaction of the values of "big country" and "small family",the attention to the love and dedication of the post and the professional spirit,the construction of social collective memory and national identity.And the narrative structure of the new mainstream film is illustrated from the linear and non-linear and the aggregate structure.Finally,from the perspective of the integration of theme values and multiple themes,the themes of the new mainstream films in the second chapter mainly explains the narrative strategy of new mainstream film commercialization from the perspective of film industry aesthetics.Firstly,from the perspective of aesthetics + business +industry + mainstream discourse + mainstream market,this paper discusses the commercial value driven by audio-visual landscape,type innovation,brand IP,cross-border co-production and film cooperation,and star effect from the perspective of industrial aesthetics,reflecting that the new mainstream films in the new stage meet the needs of the head market.Secondly,it analyzes the narrative techniques of the new mainstream movies from the perspective of space and perspective.The third chapter mainly analyzes the development of China’s new mainstream films from monocultural consumption to "multicultural community" consumption integrating mass culture,commercial culture,youth culture,Internet culture,fan culture,etc.,from the perspective of cultural communication,and the development of consumption based on "realistic" film works to "imagination consumption" of fictional science fiction films.From the perspective of "cultural industry",it analyzes the cultural attributes of the new characteristics of China’s new mainstream films,finds that there is still room for its development,points out that the narrative expression of new mainstream films has difficulties in three aspects: insufficient space for character image construction and theme sublimation,limited narrative expression of China’s mainstream local culture,and still left blank space for the expansion of typed narrative themes,and puts forward corresponding reflections and suggestions.It provides a development paradigm in enriching and optimizing the artistic expression and consciousness presentation of the new mainstream films,improving the whole industry chain of making propaganda and deepening the multi-type narrative.To sum up,the research on the narrative characteristics and cultural turn of the new
