A Report On The C-E Translation Of Folk Activity Text Form The Website Of Jingxi Cultural Center

This article is a report on the C-E translation of folk activities from the Website of Jingxi Cultural Center.The original text introduces 14 unique folk activities,such as Jingxi dance,farmers‘ paintings,tiger chess,and Jingxi martial arts.The contents include the historical origins,legends,and performance of folk activities.The plain language style and vivid description reflect the profound cultural accumulation and collective wisdom of the Zhuang people in Jingxi.These folk activities are important cultural resources in the border area.The translation of folk activities can effectively facilitate the development of local tourism resources and promote the inheritance and development of local living culture.The report conducts translation research under the guidance of Tytler‘s three principles.Tytler made requirements on the fidelity,style,and fluency of the text so that the translation could reproduce the original to the greatest extent.In the process of translation,guided by the principle of idea consistency,the translator uses techniques of explanatory translation and annotation to solve the translation related to names of folk activities and culture-loaded words,presenting the cultural connotations carried by folk activities and historical and cultural words.Meanwhile,omission is employed to bridge the differences between Chinese and English,and maximize the fidelity to the original text.Under the guidance of style consistency,translation skills including sequencing,parallelism,and shift of word class are adopted to reproduce the vivid description of folk activities in the original text,and restore the simple and concise style of the original.Under the guidance of fluency consistency,skills of reference,conjunction,addition,and shift of structure are employed to solve the implicit logical relationships within long and difficult sentences and between short clauses and enhance the fluency of the translation.This report finds that Tytler‘s three principles have a guiding role in conveying the style and contents of the original,significantly enhancing the readability and acceptability of the translation.By delving deeper into the application of Tytler‘s three principles to the cultural translation of folk activities of the Zhuang ethnic group in Jingxi,the report hopes to supplement the existing translation of folk culture of the Zhuang ethnic group and promote the international publicity translation of folk cultures.The research report provides a reference for future translation related to folk cultures.
