Debussy’s impressionistic music opened up a new musical idea in the post romantic period. His music was formed in the collision of multiple cultures.Impressionist painting,Symbolism literature, romantic music and classical music all affected his creation of impressionistic music to varying degrees.Debussy’s "Printmaking Collection" is a representative work of his Impressionist works, consisting of three pieces full of exotic colors.Among them, the piece "Tower" combines elements of Eastern music, integrates Eastern pentatonic modes, draws inspiration from Jiameilan music, breaks the limitations of traditional harmony in the form, and aims to depict the appearance of the Eastern Pagoda to people, like being in a temple, entering the mysterious Eastern world constructed by Debussy. This article will first analyze the factors and background behind the formation of Debussy’s Impressionist music style. Then analyze the artistic characteristics of the music from five aspects: harmony mode, musical structure, rhythm texture and theme melody,as well as the elements of Jiameilan music. Finally, based on personal experience in actual performance, this article elaborates on the interpretation of the pedals, the way keys are touched, the control of speed and force, and the handling of rhythm. This article aims to gain a deeper understanding and exploration of the musical connotations in piano works from different perspectives,in order to provide reference guidance for playing and learning this work.
