Mei Yaochen And His Construction Of Song Style

Song poetry is another peak in the history of China’s poetic development,and has always attracted the attention of researchers.Most scholars believe that Song Style in Poetry was formally formed during the period of Su Shi and Huang Tingjian,while many of the characteristics of Song Poetry were already evident in the poetry of Mei Yaochen.By analysing Mei Yaochen’s poetry,this study attempts to find out what Song Poetry looked like in the early days.It also examines the relationship between Mei’s poems and Song Poems,with a view to assessing Mei’s contribution to the development of Song poetry in a more objective and comprehensive perspective.Compared with Tang poetry,Song poetry’s range of subject matter has been expanded,resulting in its characteristic that everything can be included in poetry.Daily Life Writing played an important role in the expansion of the range of subject matter in Song poetry.Poets explored the poetic meaning of life and recorded them in theirs poetry.Life were closely linked to their poetry makes poetry a way of life.Mei Yaochen’s extensive writing on daily life not only influenced his own style of poems,but also contributed to the Daily Life Writing of Song poetry,expanding its range of subject matter.He possessed a strong political concern and composed poems around political events.He advocated the spirit of irony in poetry to reflect the people’s livelihood.He was concerned with the country’s border affairs and talked about these topics as a Confucian scholar.The Daily Life Writing tendency and strong political concern in Mei’s poetry have combined to forge the basis of Song poems’ subject matter.In terms of aesthetic styles,Mei Yao chen’s aesthetic orientation also demonstrates the qualities of Song poetry.He emphasized the importance of new ideas and exquisite language in his poetry,seeking breakthroughs;He also focused on discussion and rational thinking in his poetry,seeking universal truths from particular things,highlighting his tendency to Liqu.This is a vivid interpretation of the characteristics of Song poetry,which puts emphasis on ideas and rational thinking.Plainness is an important poetic proposition in Mei’s poetry and Song Poetry.Through the elaboration of Mei Yaochen’s poetic view of Plainness and the discussion of Mei Yao chen’s practice of both Leisurely Plainness and Ancient Plainness,we explore Mei Yao chen’s pursuit of the poetic style of Plainness which is of great importance in Song poetry.Different artistic expressions and approaches give the poems a different look.Mei’s poems are often characterised by Taking Prose as Poerty approach,which draws on the chapter,syntax and diction of prose,and is characterised by a variety of arguments,expanding the scope of poetry’s expressions and transforming the forms of poetic expressions,presenting a feature like prose.After Mei Yaochen’s period,this artistic expression was inherited in poetry and eventually shaped into the typical characteristics of Song poetry.Subject matter,aesthetic orientation,and specific approaches all combined to shape Song poetry.Mei Yaochen’s many poetry explorations were an invaluable asset in the early days of the Song Style in Poetry.His poetry practice embodies the threads of Song poetry’s development.He is also regarded as the founding father of Song poetry.
