Mao Zedong’s poetry and songs are famous for their profound literary thought content and superb musical expression art form.Analyzing Mao’s poetry and songs in different periods can make us further understand the great man’s lofty spiritual style and literary attainments under the changes of the times,and more deeply comprehend the spiritual connotation of Mao Zedong’s thought.This paper is intended to be discussed in four parts.The first part,"History into Poetry," explores the process of Mao Zedong’s poetry creation,mainly divided into three time periods:The Great Revolution time,wartime and the period after the establishment of the People’s Republic of China,in which the life experiences of Mao Zedong are presented to understand the background and thematic intent of poetry creation.In the second part,we analyze the literary features of the poems and the artistic features of the music to understand the connotation of the poems and the songs in all aspects.The music combines the elements of traditional opera singing and the melody of "multiple songs with one word" to blend the poetic mood with music.In the Third Part,the most representative poems and songs from the three periods of Mao’s creation are selected: "Qin Yuan Chun-Changsha" by Xu Peidong,"Yi Qin’e-Lou Shan Guan" by Luo Zhongrong,and "Long Tao Sha-Beidaihe" by Xu Peidong,and the emotion of the lyrics,melodic characteristics and accompaniment characteristics are explained in turn.The fourth part,following the analysis of the music itself in the third part,examines the use of singing techniques and the expression of emotions in the three songs,such as the bite of words,rhythm,breath,strength and so onMao Zedong’s poetry songs have unique artistic characteristics,and by analyzing the creation history,we can trace the historical footprints,explore the melodic beauty and poetic beauty that the music ontology needs to express,and study in depth the singing skills required for singing in the songs.As a vocal performer,it is necessary to pursue the perfection of singing effect,moreover,it is essential that one should learn to combine practice with theoretical knowledge to improve literary literacy and pave the way for singing more poetic songs in the future. |
