A large number of portrait bricks were unearthed from the tombs of Wei and Jin dynasties in Hexi,which record the daily life scenes of the nobles and people in Hexi at that time,and are a true portrayal of the political,economic,cultural and folk life of the Wei and Jin dynasties in Hexi.The brick are rich in content,involving all aspects of social production,life,politics and military at that time.These bricks are painted in the wall and the tomb,with the main form of "one brick,one painting" as the main form,clearly recording the moment of life in the world,both highly generalized and full of vivid and romantic charm.The picture style shows the evolution process of Han painting to Wei and Jin style,and provides extremely rich image data for the study of the artistic style of Wei and Jin painting.There are a large number of animal images painted in the portrait bricks of wei and Jin tombs in Hexi area.In these animal images,the painters flexibly and vividly depict the images of horses with their extremely romantic imagination and superb artistic expression ability.This paper sorts out and summarizes the horse images in the wei and Jin tombs in Hexi region,analyzes the various reasons,and makes a classification and summary.It expounds the artistic characteristics and aesthetic value of the horse image in the portrait brick from the freehand brushwork of modeling,the writing ability of lines and the harmonious beauty of layout.
