In the Tang and Song Dynasties,when Buddhism was gradually localized,the unique combination of Sangha appeared in the Buddhist grottoes in Bashu area,which not only had extensive influence but also had rich remains.The Sangha was an eminent monk who entered China from the Western Regions and spread Buddhism.Initially,he became people in the Jianghuai area and was worshipped by all classes of China.He gradually saw the upsurge of statues for him all over the country.This paper aims to sort out the changing process of sangha statues in Bashu region,and analyze their artistic characteristics and belief connotation.This paper discusses the background of the Sangha belief,and investigates and statistics the distribution of the statues in Bashu area.The existing statues of the Sangha are mainly distributed in the central and eastern regions,namely Anyue,Jiajiang,Neijiang,Dazu,etc.,including Buddhist,Tibetan;Sangha,wooden fork,Huiyan,Buddhist,Bozhi,Huiyan and Ershiki,which reflects the relief of the Bashu area and people’s desire for secular utility.It mainly analyzes the artistic characteristics of the combined statues in Bashu area from four aspects: facial features,dress style,spatial layout and carving techniques.It is believed that the Sangha statues not only absorb the Buddhist statue mode,but also combine with the gradually secular statue style of the folk.With the change of The Times,they have unique characteristics in different periods,and these different details enrich the art form of the Sangha statues.Again from the religious value,cultural value,aesthetic value and research value of the four aspects of the bashu region sangha statues,think the sangha statues is the product of combining Chinese Buddhism and folk beliefs,believers through folk stories to shape,in order to meet their own secular needs,between sangha and believers "two-way communication",is the root cause of popular bashu statues of tang and song dynasty region.
