| Since the tang and song dynasties,Buddhism in Guilin entered a flourishing period,with temples stand in great numbers and the activity of making cliff statues thrived.Hitherto,there are still more than 160 niche for a statue of the Buddha and more than 500 statues in Guilin.Scholars began to study the buddhist cliff statues in Guilin earlier,but it was not enough to follow up.Based on the literature and field investigation results,this study makes a comprehensive investigation and study on the cliff statues of tang and song dynasties in Guilin,analyzes the artistic style and the buddhist ideological connotation embodied in them,reveals the religious and social and cultural information reflected in them,and further discusses the influence of Buddhism in guangxi on the ideological and cultural transmission in this region.First,the development background of Buddhism in Guilin during the tang and song dynasties is sorted out by literature records.The relatively loose policies on Buddhism in the whole country and the local officials with buddhist beliefs have created a suitable environment for the development of Buddhism in Guilin.A large number of monks from guangxi accelerated the spread of Buddhism in Guilin and injected vitality into the development of Buddhism in Guilin.Secondly,by systematically sorting out the graphic data obtained from the investigation,and by means of archaeological typology and other methods,the cliff statues can be divided into three groups according to the classification of the primary statue and the secondary statue,corresponding to the construction period of the fourth phase.Thirdly,the theme of cliff statues in the tang and song dynasties in Guilin is summarized,which is embodied in the great influence of Buddha Buddha,Buddha amitabha,Buddha maitabha and avalokitesvara bodhisattva.The thought of the great multiplier,Zen view and the idea of pure land have a great influence on people’s thoughts and beliefs.Fourth,explore the source of artistic style of cliff statues in Guilin.The style of sculpture art is influenced by the Buddhism art of India and the Buddhism art ofcentral plains,especially the Buddhism art of central plains.Fifth,this paper discusses the characteristics of buddhist art in Guilin and the Buddhist offerings.The arrival of Buddhism in Guilin led to the formation of a team of craftsmen dedicated to the construction of statues.More people spontaneously participate in feeding activities,forming a family-centered way of feeding.To sum up,the development of Buddhism and artistic evolution in Guilin are in tang and song dynasties,the general rule of environment of Buddha,cliff statues of Guilin region,archaeology,image study,typology,such as research,on the basis of supplementary data in Guilin are the Buddha,in order to type,stage and its connotation of buddhist statues for further exploration,cliff statues to re-examine the Guilin region and even the history of buddhist culture and the realistic significance. |
