Research On The Value And Influence Of Lyric Poems In New Youth During The May 4th Movement

New Youth,as the front periodical of the May 4th New Culture Movement,is also the meta-canonical text that puts forward the topic of "literary revolution".The lyric poetry in "New Youth" during the May Fourth Movement opened a new era of poetry with a new look.Although the early vernacular poetry was childlike.The Vernacular literature advocated by the New Youth broke through the barriers between classical Chinese and the masses with a spirited vitality,overthrew the old and difficult classical literature,and established plain vernacular literature.It gradually developed from a language tool of expression into "human literature" with the same content and form.It took the advantages of vernacular Chinese and infused new thoughts in the May Fourth Movement Era,so that vernacular Chinese soon replaced classical Chinese.It became the main mode of speech of vernacular lyric poetry.Although many people have criticized the non-poetic tendency of lyric poetry of New Youth,it still broke through the shackles of old poetry with its natural rhythm and free,irregular state without the level and pattern.Considering that the new poetry of May Fourth Period is still in its initial stage,there is no need to criticize the naive art and crude content of the infant vernacular poetry.At the same time of overturning the old mode of poetry,the editorial department and people of New Youth are also gradually changing their aesthetic cognition of classical poetry with their creative practice.On 9th 15th 1915,New Youth was founded,From 1923 to 1926,the quarterly or occasional publications published between the two were theoretical publications of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,and were no longer peer publications of new cultural leaders.Therefore,the general discussion of the New Youth as a quintessence of the new culture is limited to the first nine volumes.With New Youth as the core literature,the author has collected the subjective literature such as poems,diaries and memoirs related to people in New Youth,trying to restore the original appearance of the May Fourth poetry circle as much as possible through the text,A preliminary clarification of the century-old evolution of Chinese new poetry and an analysis of the poetical theory of lyric poetry in New Youth presents a complete view of the aesthetic value and history of vernacular lyric poetry during the May Fourth Movement.
