Fredric Jameson is the leader of foreign Marxism. The study of the academic circles mainly focuses on its early ideological works "The Political Unconscious" and the later ideological work "The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism",lacking the way to analyze his dialectical thought from the perspective of cultural semiotics. This dissertation attempts to explain Jameson’s dialectical thought from the perspective of cultural semiotics, starting with his texts "Marxism and Form" and "The prison-House of Language",and to explore the emergence of his dialectical thought, the dialectical interpretation of literary texts and the criticism of postmodernism. This dissertation mainly includes four parts. The first part organizes the two main sources of Jameson’s dialectical thought from the perspective of cultural semiotics.First,he inherits Marx and Engels’ materialistic view of language, and on the basis of it,he gives a dialectical explanation to the problem of form.Secondly,he traces back to Saussure’s language model, and criticizes his neglect of historical facts on the basis of absorbing his relational methodology and structuralist historical view. The second part discussed the core of Jameson dialectical thinking from three aspects. In the durable construction,he creatively explained the dialectical system of Hegel from a durable perspective, and proposed that dialectical thinking has four profound durability characteristics. In the constructive constructing,he paid attention to the dialectical relationship within the language system, analyzed the dual-item opposite mode, and said that the typical Marxist literary criticism took place in the common field. In the dialectical unity of diachronic and synchronic,he transformed and enabled the concept of "inner form",and under the guidance of the overall view,he integrated diachronic construction and synchronic construction,so that they could be dialectically unified in "inner form".The third part is based on the dialectical analysis of literary text based on cultural symbolics.By dialectically criticizing the concepts of "literariness" and "defamiliarization" in formalistic literary theory and the view of structuralism model,he emphasized that the analysis of texts and literary works should include diachronic and content perspectives and return to the specific social situation of the texts. The fourth part explains postmodern culture with cultural semiotics.Based on Jameson’s connection between postmodernism and the specific development stage of capitalism, this part analyzes the new concept of time and space under postmodernism and reflects on the critical function of postmodern culture, starting with postmodern classic texts such as architecture, film and painting. On the whole, this dissertation analyzes literary texts and postmodernism with the intervention of cultural semiotics and the dialectical relationship between form and content, synchronicity and diachrony as logical clues.Thinking about the dialectical relationship between form and content, synchronic and diachronic can help us break through the original one-or-the-other opposition mode and make us get rid of the influence of traditional dichotomy and move towards a dialectical thinking.Dialectical thinking reminds us not only to pay attention to specific cultural events, but also to pay attention to the deeper social structure behind these complex cultures,so that we can dig out their ideological traces from the appearances and make us not be confused by the appearances of things.Dialectical thinking makes us clear the fog, move towards a holistic understanding, and make the complicated cultural picture clear. At the same time, exploring Jameson’s dialectical thought from the perspective of cultural semiotics provides a relatively novel intervention perspective for the study of dialectics, which is conducive to further understanding the development and changes of Marx and Engels’ materialist dialectics in the contemporary era.
