Research On Rural Troupes And Social Changes In Northwestern Shanxi During The War Of Resistance Against Japan

As an important carrier of the development of rural drama culture and a special type of drama group,rural troupes are specialized in performing all kinds of plays for the entertainment of rural people.Before the outbreak of the war of total Resistance Against Japan,influenced by local cultural environment and foreign dramas,rural troupes with regional characteristics were formed in northwestern Shanxi,showing strong local style and spontaneous growth characteristics.After the outbreak of the war of total Resistance Against Japan,the free development of rural troupes was broken.Among the factors affecting the development of rural troupes in northwestern Shanxi,the political force always occupies the dominant position.Under the special situation,the development of rural troupes in northwestern Shanxi was influenced by the political influence of the Japanese Puppet Regime and the Kuomintang on the one hand.On the other hand,it also maintains close contacts with the Federation of Literary and Art Circles,drama organizations,relevant associations and non-rural troupes.On the whole,the Communist Party of China led the development trend of rural troupes in northwestern Shanxi during the War of Resistance.While the Communist Party of China led the War of Resistance behind enemy lines in the northwest of Shanxi and carried out the construction of resistance bases,rural troupes became an important force for social mobilization and political propaganda.This paper takes the northwestern Shanxi rural troupes as the research object,which is divided into four chapters.Based on the definition and classification of the geographical region and the types of rural troupes in northwestern Shanxi,the first chapter combined with related data to outline the distribution characteristics,development stages and organization of rural troupes in northwestern Shanxi.The second chapter discusses the interaction between rural troupes and various political forces and social groups,including the Japanese army’s use of literary drama for ideological control,the Kuomintang’s influence on rural troupes,and the communication between social groups such as the Literary Federation,Literary Association,Music Association and Art Association and rural troupes.The third chapter discusses the transformation of rural troupes by the Communist Party of China from the aspects of ideology,policy,drama content and theme in order to maximize the role of the troops in propaganda and mobilization of the people during the War of Resistance.The fourth chapter mainly focuses on the influence of the rural troupe on the social changes in northwestern Shanxi,which is mainly reflected in the aspects of rural drama,folklore activities,social education,people’s thoughts and civil-military relations.Through the research of this paper,on the one hand,it focuses on the analysis of the complex relationship between rural troupes and various political forces and the important role in the populace mobilization of the Communist Party of China after the outbreak of the war of Resistance Against Japan.On the other hand,it mainly discusses the transformation of troupe of the Communist Party of China.After the outbreak of the war of Resistance Against Japan,in view of the limitations of unable to adapt to the situation of struggle,the Communist Party of China began to comprehensively reform the playwrights,actors and performance contents of the troupes,so as to promote the performance effect of the rural troupes and better serve the mobilization tasks of the war of Resistance Against Japan.Thus,rural troupes have achieved vigorous development,which not only promotes the "re-creation" of drama and literature and rural culture,but also plays a positive influence imperceptibly on the people in the base areas by combining education with entertainment.To a certain extent,it has realized the renewal and changes of social and cultural aspects such as social customs,cultural education and public thoughts.This process of social changes shows the close connection between rural troupes and people’s lives,which still has certain reference significance for the development of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics in the new era today.
