As precious achievement of the continuous inheritance of traditional Chinese culture, the Lingnan family precepts of the Ming and Qing dynasties are not only the moral code of many families in Lingnan region, but also important carrier for inheriting and cultivating Chinese traditional virtues.During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Lingnan family precepts have entered a stage of prosperity and development, which are not only deeply rooted in the fertile soil of fine traditional Chinese culture, absorbing the essence of ideas and accumulating profound cultural heritage, but also nourished by the exchange and integration of Chinese and Western cultures, gradually evolving regional uniqueness and containing rich moral education ideas. In the new era,the rich content and contemporary value of moral education thoughts of the Lingnan family precepts in the Ming and Qing dynasties should be deeply excavated, and the practical path of their modern transformation and development should be explored,in order to provide inexhaustible source of traditional culture for the promotion of Chinese family virtues. The formation and development of any kind of culture comes from specific socio-historical background, diversified economic forms, the political model of family and country isomorphism, multicultural exchanges and integration, and unique geographical conditions, which jointly created the Lingnan family precepts of the Ming and Qing dynasties.Under the combined effect of the above multiple factors, the moral education thoughts of Lingnan family precepts in the Ming and Qing dynasties revolved around the way of managing the family and educating children, the foundation of learning and self-cultivation and the principles of being a person and dealing with the world. The moral education thoughts of Lingnan family precepts present the basic characteristics of being morality-based,advocating culture and education, open and inclusive, forming educational methods such as developing good character and behavior during childhood, creating good educational environments, teaching by precept and example, educating children with care and strict requirements, teaching children in accordance with their aptitude and holding regular family gatherings. In the new era,the moral education content and educational methods contained in the Lingnan family precepts of the Ming and Qing dynasties have great realistic significance for us to promote the moral construction of contemporary families, the development of moral education in schools and the construction of civic morality. It is mainly manifested as enhancing the effectiveness of family education and promoting the construction of family virtues, ensuring education performs its fundamental mission of fostering virtue and promote the development of school education, inheriting fine traditional Chinese culture and promote the construction of civic morality. However, the reality of the moral education thoughts of Lingnan family precepts in the Ming and Qing dynasties isn’t optimistic. The diversified family structures and pluralistic values have weakened its influence, and its moral education thoughts have not been widely recognized and practiced. Therefore,it is necessary to break the dilemma through the transformation of principles, contents and forms, that is,to adhere to the basic principles to guide the modern transformation process;to integrate modern elements to promote the transformation of moral education contents;to construct a collaborative education mechanism to innovate modern transformation forms;truly continuing the spiritual bloodline and cultural genes of the Chinese nation.
