While China’s comprehensive strength is increasing,it is accompanied by the Western media’s exaggerated "China threat theory",which has seriously damaged China’s image. In recent years, the state vigorously advocates for cultural relics to "go out" and "tell the China’s story",and the Palace Museum,as the national political center of the Ming and Qing dynasties, has a deep palace culture, which demonstrates China’s cultural charm and soft power, and plays an important role in the exchange of cultural relics with foreign countries. This thesis will take the Palace Museum in Beijing as the main subject of research, and through a comprehensive analysis of its storytelling, summarize the ways and characteristics of storytelling in the Palace, and conclude the experience of the Palace in telling the Chinese story well. The thesis sorts out the narrative turn of the Palace Museum,in the order of the monologue of objects, the group performance of objects and the performance of objects, that is,the shift from ignoring narrative to despising narrative and then to attaching importance to narrative. The thesis introduces art theories such as semiotics, design psychology and color theory, discusses the narrative language of the Palace from three aspects: exhibition, digital Forbidden City and cultural creation, summarizes the narrative characteristics of the Palace Museum, and summarizes the advantages of each aspect. In terms of exhibition, the exhibition of the Palace is characterized by scenes, interactivity and emotionality;in terms of digital Palace,it presents diversified forms of expression and human-centered communication;in terms of cultural creation of the Palace, the Palace extracts cultural symbols and compiles them in products to reshape the context of cultural relics, thereby enhancing the public’s cultural identity. Finally,we conclude that the value and significance of the cultural "going out" of the Palace Museum can enhance the influence of Chinese culture and discourse and shape the international image of China. The results of this thesis show that the Palace Museum plays an important role in promoting Chinese culture and image building through good Chinese storytelling, and that other museums can learn from its experience to improve their own cultural promotion capabilities and image building, thus enhancing the impact and attractiveness of China’s overall cultural output.
