The Phonetic Research Of Daqiao Hakka In Xinfeng

Xinfeng is located in the south of Ganzhou,Jiangxi Province,Daqiao is in the northeast of Xinfeng.Residents in Xinfeng speak two dialects,one is Mandarin dialect,the other is Hakka.Residents of Jiading Town,where Xinfeng County is located,speak Xinfeng Mandarin dialect.Residents of the rest 15 towns speak Hakka.Though the rest 15 towns speak Hakka,but Hakka in different towns has its own characteristics.The research object of this thesis is the phonetics of Hakka in Zhongduan village in the town of Daqiao,hereinafter referred to as the “ Daqiao Hakka”.This thesis is given priority to phonetic research.Through the field investigation of the dialect of more than 3000 words in common use,sorting,recording,descriping,then,by comparing with the ancient Chinese rhyme,we can understand the evolution and development of Daqiao Hakka,so as to enrich the study of Hakka.The thesis is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the research object and the speakers of this paper,the research situation of Xinfeng dialect,the research methods of this paper,and the general situation and historical evolution of Xinfeng and the Town of Daqiao.The first chapter is the phonetic system of Daqiao Hakka,including the initials,vowels,tones and the table of phonological coordination.There are 20 initials,33 vowels and 4 tones in Daqjiao Hakka.The second chapter is the comparison between Daqiao Hakka and the medieval phonology.It compares the investigated corpus with the medieval phonology system represented by “Guangyun” by means of tables,so as to observe the corresponding relationship with the sound,rhyme and tone of the middle phonology system.The phonology characteristics of Daqiao Hakka are obtained from the diachronic level,which are divided into three parts for discussion: initial,final and tone.The third chapter is about the phonetic characteristics of Daqiao Hakka.Through the comparison of the first chapter and the second chapter,the characteristics of Daqiao Hakka are obtained and discussed from three aspects: initial characteristics,vowel characteristics and tone characteristics.Daqiao Hakka has its own features,such as no difference between yin and yang in flat voice,the rhyme of Yu and the other Yu is different and the ancient entering tone is spilt up by rhyme now,which are different from the Hakka of the other towns in Xinfeng.Chapter four is the study of literary and colloquial readings in Daqiao Hakka.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the phonological characteristics of the Daqiao Hakka and points out some problems existing in this study.
