A Report On The C-E Translation Of The 2021 Work Report Of Ganzhou Municipal Government

The government work report epitomizes a quintessential manifestation of external dissemination.Annually,during the confluence of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference,the various tiers of government issue this report to apprise the populace within their respective administrative domains.With the elevation of China’s international status,the annual government work report has increasingly gained attention from the global community.Its English translation serves as a significant medium for the international society to understand our country’s major policies and socio-economic development.Therefore,the quality of translation is of utmost importance.This thesis,taking an example of the English translation of the 2021 Work Report of Ganzhou Municipal Government,incorporating Huang Youyi’s “Three Closeness Principles” in Publicity-oriented C-E Translation(being close to China’s reality,being close to the needs of acquiring information by audiences abroad,and being close to the thinking patterns of audiences abroad)delves into the techniques and methods of translating regional government work reports in terms of vocabulary and sentence structures through case analysis.It is anticipated that the methodologies and approaches employed in the translation of government work reports may furnish a point of reference for the translation of local government reports,enhancing the efficacy and caliber of translators.This thesis is divided into four parts.Chapter One describes the translation task,which mainly introduces the background and features of the original text and the significance of this study.Chapter two explicitly describes the translation process,which consists of pre-translation preparation,while-translation process,and posttranslation matters.Chapter three demonstrates the specific application of translation methods under the guidance of “Three Closeness Principles”.Chapter four comes to a conclusion,which reviews the difficulties and summarizes the experience,insufficiency,and direction.
