| As one of the crucial components of language,and a microcosm of culture,vocabulary is a important element for translation.In the long history of humankind,the expressions and terminological methods of Wushu have gradually formed,and become a unique product of Chinese culture.A special existence of Chinese national culture that is distinguished from other cultures.Wushu vocabulary with its unique national cultural elements are called Wushu culture-loaded.When convert those special words between Chinese and English,their specificity,cultures as well as ethnicity turn to be the difficulties and keys of translation.In the conversion of Wushu culture-loaded between Chinese and English,its specificity,culture and ethnicity become the difficulty and key point of translation.The translator not only consider the equivalence between different language symbols,but also pay attention to the cultural meanings behind those words,thus,Wushu culture-loaded can be perfectly reproduced in the target language.Taking Three Kingdoms by Moss Robert as the object,and adopting textural analysis,documentary analysis and combination of quantitative and qualitative methods,the paper summarizes the schematic correspondence of Wushu culture-loaded in the translation,and explores the English translation methods of Wushu culture-loaded.Luo Guanzhong’s Three Kingdoms is an an ancient Chinese Classics,and it Including some segments of Wushu culture,including weapons,techniques and movements,military tactics and strategies,and Wushu philosophy,etc.the concept of "Wushu endowed with soldiers" is clearly reflected in Three Kingdoms.Moss Robert completed translation of Three Kingdoms in 1991,famed in the best English translation of Three Kingdoms.Based on the abundant stored knowledge of Chinese culture,Moss Robert adopted the strategy of domestication translation to try to solve the problem of cultural differences and cultural omissions,and taking target-language reader into consideration,and his translation received positive feedback while conveying the original ideas completely.Taking schema as memorial method of knowledge and experience,Schema theory can help Chinese-English translation of Wushu culture-loaded in classics,as well as the communication of Wushu all around the world.Introducing Schema theory into translation-related studies can help the foreign dissemination of Wushu culture-loaded in the canonical texts.The study shows that the Wushu culture-loaded can be divided into three categories in Moss Robert translation: overlapping schemata,difference schemata,and vacant schemata.Based on the relationships of schemata,we analyze the translation methods of the Wushu culture-loaded,and draw the following conclusions:firstly,in overlapping schemata,the translator adopts the way of activating the schema to translate the Chinese Wushu culture-loaded words into the target language,so that they can achieve direct equivalence at both the linguistic and cultural levels.Secondly,in difference schemata,the translator adapts the source language to the target language according to the method of adjusting the schema,but in the translation of Wushu weapon,its meaning is incorrect.Thirdly,In vacant schemata,based on the construction of schema,translator completes the vacant culture,but the translation method adopted by the translator does not translate the cultural meaning of the Wushu culture-load words into the target language completely.In difference schemata and vacant schemata,by adjusting or constructing schemata translator try to solve the problem of incomplete cultural information.By studying the translation methods of Wushu culture-loaded words in the Luo translation of Three Kingdoms,we aim to find the best methods and ideas for the Cross-cultural communication of Wushu,and provide new perspectives for translation of martial arts culture,and promote the dissemination of Wushu culture in Chinese classic literary. |
