Silent Narration In The Perspective Of Aesthetic Realism

This article centers on the graduation documentary “Love Without Words”,which focuses on an ordinary deaf teacher as the narrative object and adheres to the basic creative principle of aesthetic realism.It discusses the reasons for topic selection,the creative process,audio-visual language design,shortcomings,and reflections.Following the growth of a deaf person to becoming a deaf teacher,the documentary uses the story of Gao Xiang,a deaf teacher,to showcase his dedication and passion for special education,depicting the extraordinary spirit of ordinary people and their silent love.Through the multidimensional focus of the aesthetic realism,the documentary reveals the marginality,authenticity,and naturalness of the protagonist’s survival state and spiritual world,and explores their attitude towards life and spirit of dedication in the face of reality.The disabled community is a broad and complex social group that can be divided into different types based on various criteria.Deaf-mute individuals are generally regarded as disabled people and face various difficulties in survival,learning,and work.Due to the general lack of knowledge and understanding about disabled individuals and the tendency to follow popular opinions,it is difficult for most people to empathize with their living and psychological world.Therefore,this paper chose to narrate the story of a deaf-mute person who has love but cannot express it in words.Through the perspectives of his parents,lover,teachers,colleagues,and students,the life experiences and loving life of the main character,Gao Xiang,are fully “narrated”.As a persevering disabled deaf person,Gao Xiang’s growth journey and pursuit of spiritual values demonstrate the positive attitude of the disabled community.This article will combine the thoughts of each stage of the creation of the documentary “Love Without Words”.Through Gao Xiang’s story,it attempts to break the stigma of the disabled community,increase cognition of disabled individuals,arise awareness of special education,eliminate discrimination against the disabled community,and further promote understanding and support for the disabled community,particularly by providing more opportunities for inclusion and equal competition.
