Content and Language Integrated Learning(CLIL)model,which focuses on both subject knowledge and language leaning,has a positive effect on language learners.Foreign scholars have conducted extensive research on CLIL model from different perspectives and achieved fruitful results.However,domestic scholars have mainly studied the application of CLIL model in English teaching,with research participants primarily comprising English learners in colleges and universities,while research on CLIL model in primary and secondary school is relatively scarce.Therefore,in order to improve the English writing proficiency of senior high school students,this study intends to apply CLIL model in English writing teaching and address the following research questions:(1)What changes occur in students’ attitudes after applying CLIL model in English writing teaching of senior high school?(2)What are the effects of applying CLIL model in English writing teaching of senior high school on students’ English writing?This research is conducted with two classes of first-year students from a senior high school in Fujian Province.This experiment spans 20 weeks,with one class assigned as the experimental class(EC)and the other as the controlled class(CC).Before the experiment,the students’ current English writing situation is assessed through a pre-test and a questionnaire survey.During the implementation stage of the experiment,the EC receives English writing teaching using CLIL model,while the previous English writing teaching model is applied in the CC.In the final stage of the experiment,the effectiveness of CLIL model in English writing teaching is determined by comparing the pre-test and the post-test results.Additionally,to understand the changes in students’ attitudes,interests and self-confidence,another questionnaire survey is conducted among the EC.Furthermore,interviews are conducted to gather the EC students’ attitudes towards the application of CLIL model in English writing teaching.By comparing the results of the pre-test and post-test,the author finds that English writing performance of the EC students has been improved,while there is no significant change in the CC.Moreover,the results of the questionnaires and interviews indicate that applying CLIL model in English writing teaching of senior high school not only enhance students’ English writing abilities,interests and confidence,but also provides valuable insights for CLIL model research and English writing teaching of senior high school. |
