As the epidemic situation subsided, tourism has come back to life. The museum has always been the signature of a place, recording the local customs and historical evolution of the region. If someone wants to know a city better,a museum is the very place to go.This report is based on a practice in which the author provided an escort interpreting service for a Canadian tourist in the Jilin Provincial Museum.Meanwhile, the author recorded the audio of the whole process and transcribed it into a text as the material of this report.First of all,the author went to the museum to prepare for the interpreting, and made notes of the relevant colloquialisms, terms and special historical nouns,so as to predict the contents and situations that might be involved in the escort interpreting. After that, the author collected and collated the parallel texts related to the museums,Jilin history and cultural relics. After reading a large number of escort interpreting reports and relevant theoretical achievements at home and abroad, the author combines the three levels of the interpretive theory, the lexical level, the syntactic level and the discourse level, with the translation strategies of domestication and foreignization, discusses and analyzes the culture-loaded words involved in the target text, and modifies and improves the original target text.On the basis of the lexical level, the syntactic level and the discourse level in the interpretive theory, the author uses the strategies of domestication and foreignization to improve rendering the culture-loaded words involved in the target text, and discusses their practical value,so as to improve the quality of the interpreting and the professional quality of the interpreter. The author hopes that the escort interpreting practice report can provide reference for other similar interpreting activities in the future. |
