Research On Enhancing Cultural Heritage Protection And Utilization In The Context Of Guilin’s World-class Tourism City

The Lingqu Canal,one of the three ancient Chinese water conservancy projects,was built during the Qin Dynasty and is currently the oldest surviving artificial canal in the world.It is located in Xing’an County,northeastern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.Since its inclusion in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage tentative list in 2012,efforts have been made to apply for official recognition.In April 2021,during his inspection of Guangxi,General Secretary Xi Jinping clarified that the overall plan for the "14th Five-Year Plan" and long-term development is to create a world-class tourism city and established Guilin’s new position as a world-class tourism city.As an important cultural heritage site in Guilin,the development and utilization of the Lingqu Canal can enhance the attractiveness,influence,and competitiveness of Guilin as a world-class tourism city.Meanwhile,the protection of international cultural heritage has entered a new era,and the theory of cultural heritage protection is constantly being updated.The value orientation of cultural heritage has begun to shift towards a diversified model based on cultural and social perspectives.The article is divided into several parts:Chapter 1 is an introduction that mainly elaborates on the research background,topic selection,research status,conceptual analysis,research purpose,significance,and proposes a research framework.Chapter 2 describes the heritage environment of the Lingqu Canal,including the natural environment and urban and rural construction environment along the canal.Chapter 3 is a specialized study of the cultural heritage of the Lingqu Canal.Firstly,it describes the basic situation of the Lingqu Canal’s historical and cultural heritage and analyzes its historical and cultural characteristics.Based on field research,the historical and cultural heritage is divided into tangible cultural heritage,intangible cultural heritage,and heritage of ancient towns and villages on both sides of the canal,and the protection and utilization of cultural heritage are summarized.Chapter 4 analyzes the value of the cultural heritage of the Lingqu Canal from the perspectives of history,science and technology,culture,and ecological environment,aiming to illustrate the importance and necessity of protecting the cultural heritage of the Lingqu Canal.Chapter 5,based on the analysis and summary of the cultural heritage of the Lingqu Canal in the previous chapters,describes the achievements in the protection and utilization of the cultural heritage of the Lingqu Canal,and points out the problems in the current stage of protection and utilization.Chapter 6 selects four excellent canals from world canal heritage as case studies,two from domestic and foreign countries respectively,analyzes the problems existing in the cases,and summarizes the successful experiences of protection,management,and utilization of domestic and foreign canal heritage to provide case experiences for the cultural heritage of the Lingqu Canal.Chapter 7 proposes reasonable approaches for the protection and utilization of the Lingqu Canal heritage based on the theory of world cultural heritage research,in response to the problems in the protection and utilization process of the Lingqu Canal heritage.In conclusion,the protection and management responsibilities of the Lingqu Canal’s cultural heritage are even more significant in the context of Guilin’s world-class tourism city.The urgency of developing and utilizing the Lingqu Canal is also emphasized,and we must further enhance our sense of responsibility and mission to do this job well.
