In terms of the content requirements of vocabulary knowledge,the English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 edition,2020 revision edition)clearly put forward that vocabulary teaching in senior high schools should not only guide students to have a deeper understanding and wider use of the vocabulary they have learned,but also pay attention to the training of lexical chunks awareness in context.Read a lot to further improve the vocabulary and use vocabulary to accurately understand and accurately express meaning.This shows that vocabulary learning is of great significance to high school students.In addition,with the continuous reform of the new curriculum,high school students need an increasing amount of vocabulary,and rich and sufficient vocabulary is a prerequisite for enhancing students’ listening,speaking,reading,writing and translating skills.Nowadays,high school English teaching presents the characteristics of fast progress and high difficulty,which also puts forward higher requirements on the breadth and depth of students’ English vocabulary.Moreover,according to the author’s observation,in real English learning,students spend a lot of time in vocabulary learning,vocabulary learning efficiency is low,but the learning effect is not good,students’ learning frustration,which greatly affects students’ interest in learning English subjects.Lexical chunks play an important role in language acquisition and language behavior.Introducing the theory of lexical chunks into English teaching helps students better understand English sentence and text structure.In terms of vocabulary and grammar learning,it is necessary to put words in lexical chunks,study them in specific contexts,and master them when using them,so as to realize lexical meaning and grammatical function,integrate pragmatic meaning,and strengthen learners’ use of lexical chunks.Based on the theory of lexical chunks,84 students from a middle school in Yan ’an City were selected as the research objects,and the following two research questions were explored by means of interviews,questionnaires and tests.(1)What are students’ attitudes toward lexical teaching based on lexical chunks teaching?(2)Does the vocabulary teaching method based on lexical chunks teaching help improve students’ vocabulary learning performance?On the premise of ensuring consistent teaching content,progress and duration,teachers use traditional vocabulary teaching method in control class and word block teaching method in experimental class to carry out experimental teaching for one semester.Using SPSS25.0 to compare the measured data before and after the experiment and analyze the results of questionnaire and interview,the following conclusions are drawn: students have a positive attitude towards the vocabulary teaching model based on lexical block teaching;The vocabulary teaching method based on block teaching is helpful to improve students’ achievement in vocabulary learning.
