Research On The Meaning Of Yibuzi In “Shuowen Jiezi” From The Prespective Of Cultural Linguistics

Cultural linguistics is the science that studies the relationship between language and culture.Cultural linguistics believes that language and culture are closely related,language is both a carrier of culture and an important part of culture and culture influences language and language reflects culture.Cultural linguistics believes that language has important cultural attributes,specifically including three aspects: material culture,institutional culture and psychological culture.The “Shuowen Jiezi ”is the first systematic and rigorous character book in China arranged according to the radicals,and is an encyclopedia reflecting ancient life,with rich and profound cultural connotations.The “Shuowen Jiezi ”Yibuzi contains 121 characters with rich meanings.Using the theory of cultural linguistics,this paper explores the rich material cultures,institutional cultures and psychological cultures that are embedded in the meaning of the characters in the Yibuzi of the“Shuowen Jiezi ”,in order to understand the remarkable contributions of ancient Chinese people in various aspects of culture.This study will,on the one hand,enrich the research results of the Yibuzi of the “Shuowen Jiezi ”,and on the other hand,inherit and promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture by fully interpreting the rich cultural information contained in the Yibuzi of the character.The full paper is divided into four parts,except for the introduction and conclusion.Introduction: It mainly discusses the current status of domestic and international research on this topic,the significance of this topic and the research method.Part one: Classification of the meaning of the characters of the Yibuzi of the “Shuowen Jiezi ”.In this paper,we use the commentaries of “Shuowen Jiezi ”and “Shuowen Shidanjia”as the main reference,and also refer to the ancient and modern dictionaries and thesauruses on“Shuowen Jiezi ”;this paper uses the semantic field theory to classify the 121 characters of Yibuzi into four categories according to their meanings: types of clothing,components of clothing,actions related to clothing,appearance of clothing and others.Part two: the material culture embodied in the meaning of the characters of the Yibuzi of the “Shuowen Jiezi ” is mainly manifested in the rich variety and texture of clothing,the exquisite structure and elaborate production techniques of clothes.The frist: at that time,there was already a more complete internal and external costume,and the style of the costume provided a model for later generations.The clothing adapted to each season was complete,and the texture of the clothing was also relatively diverse.Secondly: The meaning of the character for Yibuzi reflects the delicate structure and craftsmanship of clothing.The structure of each part of the costume at that time was exquisite,and the cutting,making,repairing,folding,and arranging in the process of making the costume also reflected the elaborate production techniques of that time.Part three: the institutional culture embodied in the meaning of the characters of the Yibuzi of the “Shuowen Jiezi ” mainly manifested in the feudal hierarchy,the ancient sacrificial system,and the ancient funeral rites.First of all,the style,parts,color and texture of the dress reflect the status level of the wearer,and the dress has become a symbol of status level.Secondly the different forms,colors,accessories and ornaments of clothing were used for different objects of sacrifice,such as heaven and earth,ancestors,etc.;and different occasions of sacrifice,such as suburban sacrifices and clan temples,reflecting the ancient sacrificial system.The ancient funeral rituals can be seen through the analysis of the meaning of the characters in the clothing department related to the clothes of the deceased.Part four: The psychological culture embodied in the meaning of the characters in the Yibuzi of the “Shuowen Jiezi ” mainly reflects specific cultural psychology and patterns of thinking and cognition.First of all,the style and color of clothing reflect the concept of inferiority and superiority at that time;the embroidery reflects the nature and totem worship of the ancient people;the style and edge of clothing reflect the people’s practical psychology;the appearance of clothing reflects the people’s aesthetic psychology;and baby clothes and clothing of artifacts show the people’s saving psychology.Secondly,the distinction between inner and outer clothing,upper and lower clothing,and other concepts in the meaning of the Yibuzi reflects the systemic and dialectic way of people’s thinking,and the development of the meaning of Yibuzi reflects the metaphorical cognitive mode of people.Conclusion: Summarize the ideas of the whole paper,and emphasize the realistic meaning of this study in the context of contemporary cultural heritage,and finally point out the shortcomings of this paper.
