A Study On The Painting Expression Language Of Zong Qixiang’s "Staying At Lijiang River At Night"

Zong Qixiang is one of the representative figures of Chinese painting reform in the20 th century.His landscape painting works which were integrated of Chinese and Western Painting,are different from traditional Chinese landscape painting.Especially,Zong Qixiang’s Chinese landscape painting of night scene,which took Lijiang River as the theme,is his deeper exploration of night landscape painting and his successful model of Chinese landscape painting.These works with Lijiang River as the theme showed the unique artistic linguistic features of his night landscape painting and the unique beauty of Guilin’s landscape painting.His night landscape painting has positive innovative value and significance of the times.This paper studies the poetic expression from Poetic Meaning to Landscape Painting of Zong Qixiang’s landscape painting of night scene “Staying at Lijiang River at Night”,taking it as a starting point.There are four chapters in the thesis.The Chapter One summarizes the background and main achievements of Zong Qixiang.This paper expounds the social changes in China in the 20 th century,analyzes the influence and artistic development of Zong Qixiang in different social environment,and then analyzes the painting works and their expression characteristics in different times.By analyzing his landscape painting,this paper aims to expound the main achievements and formation of artistic language of Zong Qixiang’s landscape painting.The Chapter Two elaborates the poetic landscape of Zong Qixiang’s landscape painting “Staying at Lijiang River at Night”.This thesis expounds the conception of this work and the poetic meaning of Guilin landscape,arranges Zong Qixiang’s deep understanding the nature and humanities of Guilin landscape,and his deep understanding of night scenery and connotation,summarizes that Zong Qixiang wrote the landscape poems with Guilin’s landscape in his landscape paintings,analyzes the poetic meaning and picturesque scene,and explains aesthetic implication of “Staying at Lijiang River at Night”The Chapter Three is the key chapter of this thesis,it mainly analyzes the characteristics of painting language in Zong Qixiang’s “Staying at Lijiang River at Night”.By analyzing Zong Qixiang’s observation of nature and the expression of subjective images,we can understand the image and its significance.This thesis expounds the space construction and night rendering performance of this painting after integrating with technique of expression of western landscape painting.Finally,the thesis discusses the inheritance of Zong Qixiang to traditional Chinese landscape painting,and analyzes the painting of its frame,image and expression of artistic conception of this work.The Chapter Four discusses the enlightenment which came from Zong Qixiang’s landscape painting language for contemporary landscape painters with Lijiang River as the theme.By analyzing Zong Qixiang’s educational ideas and artistic expression experience,this paper expounds that contemporary landscape painters present the beauty of Lijiang River with different artistic expression methods under his influence.
