| Society needs more and more talents because of the expansion of China’s foreign exchanges,especially professionals with language skills.Listening and speaking are the most basic skills among listening,speaking,reading,writing,and translating.Cultivating undergraduates’ listening and speaking abilities is crucial.With the development of science and technology,various digital English learning platforms have emerged.The emergence of them has greatly enriched the content and means of students’ English learning.These platforms have provided massive learning resources for students,and provided favorable conditions for students’ autonomous training.The training of undergraduates’ English listening and speaking skills should be scientific and strategic.The recommended digital platforms have basically implemented Skinner’s reinforcement theory into teaching through programmed textbooks or special teaching machines,such as training through strengthening skills;systematically arranged learning content;asking questions,which equals to stimuli;answering questions,which equals to reactions;entering the next program of learning when encouraged,which equals to reinforcement.However,during the survey of undergraduates’ platform training,it was found that students had negative attitudes and low subjective initiative.And there was sudden completion of tasks in a short time in the listening and speaking autonomous training tasks assigned by teachers,especially in oral expression because students were afraid of oral expression.It is crucial to study strategies suitable for undergraduates’ autonomous training,so that students can truly exert their subjective initiative,master autonomous training methods,and implement strategies suitable for themselves.This paper selects two platforms,namely "FIF Intelligent Teaching Platform" and "Tsinghua University Online English Learning",which have good feedback from teachers and students.By investigating students’ autonomous training on the digital platform,such as their autonomous training performance,task performance,training content,learning duration,and learning effect,we analyze students’ emotional attitudes,such as learning motivation and interests,teachers’ role positioning,and problems encountered by students in training.At the same time,a case study was conducted to discover the psychological reactions and behavior of students during actual training,explore the internal and external factors that cause problems during their training,and propose efficient strategies and rational suggestions for autonomous listening and speaking training for undergraduates.This will help students improve their English listening and speaking abilities,master language skills,and become applied talents. |
