Confucian Culture And Social Basic Endowment Insurance Against The Context Of Rapid Urbanization

The report to the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has made a strategic judgment that China’s development has entered a new era.In view of this,in the new era,this important system of social security needs a new strategic positioning.As an important part of social security,social basic endowment insurance has been widely concerned by the government and society.According to the Outline of the 14 th Five-Year Plan and 2035 for National Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China(hereinafter referred to as the Outline of the 14 th Five-Year Plan),we will realize national pooling of basic old-age insurance,gradually raise the standard of basic pension for urban and rural residents,and develop a multi-level and multi-pillar old-age insurance system.It requires the participation rate of basic old-age insurance to increase from 91 percent in 2020 to 95 percent in 2025.The endowment insurance provides a strong guarantee for the old age life of the elderly.Many scholars have studied the influencing factors of endowment insurance from different angles.Confucian culture is the core representative of Chinese excellent traditional culture.In today’s rapid urbanization,the state is vigorously promoting the comprehensive coverage of social basic endowment insurance.What is the contemporary value and function of Confucian culture? This is an important question worth studying.This thesis investigates the influence and mechanism of Confucian culture on participation in social basic endowment insurance in the context of rapid urbanization from the perspective of informal system.Firstly,by sorting out the relevant literature at home and abroad,we can better grasp the development context of the research topic.The review of previous literature can help us better grasp the development direction of this research topic and provide a theoretical basis for this study.Secondly,through the definition of variables,research ideas and research methods selected by different scholars for this research topic,we can also provide some reference and guidance for this research.This thesis uses ARCGIS software to calculate Confucian culture as an explanatory variable,takes social basic pension insurance as the explained variable,and selects individual risk aversion and altruism as mediating variables to construct a multiple mediating effect model.In addition,in the context of rapid urbanization,urbanization indicators are selected as adjustment variables to explore the adjustment effect.We measured the Confucian cultural variables according to historical records and the distribution information of Confucius temples recorded by China Research Data Service Platform(CNRDS),and counted other variables according to the database of China Household Finance Survey(CHFS),and conducted empirical analysis.The results show that Confucian culture has a significant promoting effect on participation in social basic endowment insurance,but the rapid urbanization process will weaken this effect.Further research shows that Confucian culture influences the participation of social basic endowment insurance mainly through risk aversion and altruism.The weakening effect of rapid urbanization has been reduced in the elderly and those with high education.This thesis reveals the inner logic of the role of Confucian culture on the participation of social basic endowment insurance in the scene of rapid urbanization from the micro individual level.
