A Study Of Desire Narrative In Su Tong’s Novels

The re-discovery of human beings in the 1980 s makes writers rethink the dimension and depth of human narrative,and explore the potential level and complex soul in human nature.Su Tong,a pioneer in the late 1980 s,won the attention of many critics with his unique narrative skills and aesthetic style.From avant-garde literature,new historicism to the real theme of the creative change,Su Tong has consistently placed ’ people ’ in the center of history,brushing away the dust of history,revealing the real form of human nature under the cover of historical folds and inner desires hidden demands,restore the real people.Su Tong takes the writing of desire as the basic point to show human nature,from the secret of young people to the world of adults,from the external desire for survival to the internal spiritual pursuit.He strengthens the desire of human nature to detect the complex soul and deep contradictions of human beings,so as to draw different“ desire maps ” and present a vivid mental state and life tension.This paper selects Su Tong ’ s representative works.On the basis of close reading of the text,based on the text,and combined with the knowledge of novel narratology and cultural criticism,it makes an in-depth analysis of the desire world constructed by Su Tong.From the metaphysical desire to the metaphysical pursuit of value,it tries to explain the presentation and significance of Su Tong ’ s desire narrative from multiple dimensions,excavates the connotation of character metaphor in the author ’ s works,peeps at the secret behind the author ’ s writing thinking,and thinks about the defects and problems presented by Su Tong ’ s desire as the entry point to examine human nature,so as to better examine the artistic value and existing problems of Su Tong ’ s novels.The desires in Su Tong ’s novels are mainly manifested in the dual desires of basic living conditions and spirit.The characters in the novels have extreme desires for sex from juvenile to adult,and love has become the node of the life trajectory of the characters and even leads to the degradation of life.Women take the body as capital in exchange for material satisfaction,and become slaves of material in the pursuit of material desire.As a higher level of pursuit in the collective consciousness of human society,power was pushed to an extreme situation by Su Tong.The spiritual pursuit derived from the basic living conditions is Su Tong ’s portrayal of the real situation of human beings after stripping history.Whether it is the search for the source of identity after the shake of identity,the confirmation of spiritual personality by small people,or the struggle in the whirlpool of personality construction and self desire,he has completed a personality breakthrough of spiritual desire by placing the narration of ’ human ’ at the center of history.However,the strong personal style and complex also led to the artistic dilemma of Su Tong in narrative,characterization and aesthetic paradigm.
