Translation Practice Report On India National Education Policy 2020

Education has always been the focus of governments,and the development of education and the building of an educational power has become a top priority.In the context of globalization,the education systems and policies of various countries are constantly being improved and refined,therefore,studying the current situation of education in other countries has become a major task for China.This translation report takes the Chinese translation of India’s National Education Policy 2020,a research project of the School of International Education of Tianjin University,in which the author participated,as the analysis text.The translation mainly covers the higher education part of this text,including the current situation of the school education and higher education system,the construction of teachers’ teams and the development prospect.The text type is based on the transmission of information,with formal and standardized wording and more passive sentences,reflecting the objectivity and rigor of the text,which is a typical policy text.In the process of translation,the author chooses the Eco-Translatology theory,whose emphasis is on translator-centeredness,where the translator constantly adapts and selects the best translation environment to achieve an accurate and error-free translation.This translation theory is very applicable for the translation of formal national policy documents.The author adopts corresponding translation strategies on different levels of the linguistic dimension,communicative dimension and cultural dimension of ecological translation science to achieve the practical effect of national policy dissemination while ensuring the faithfulness and fluency of the original text.This translation practice report is helpful to summarize the experience teaching as well as deficiencies in translation,explore the methods and techniques of English-Chinese translation,and then give some experience to the translators who want to translate national policy documents.Through this translation practice,the author will further explore the guiding significance of ecological translation theory in text translation,aiming to enrich the practical application of ecological translation theory in policy documents.
