Translation Practice Report On News Based On Manipulation Theory

With the further integration of economy in the world,the social and cultural exchanges between countries are daily on the increase,and the role of news translation in cross-cultural communication turns out to be prominent.The construction of official news websites is particularly important for colleges and universities to showcase the achievements and expand the influence.This report is developed based on the practice of news translation on the official website of Tianjin University.The text covers campus activities,academic conferences,scientific researches,international exchanges,etc.Under the guidance of the manipulation theory proposed by Lefevere,the author analyzes typical translation examples and explores how translators can exert the subjectivity in flexibly adopting translation techniques,such as omission,inversion,conversion,division,combination,and voice changes,under the influence of ideology,poetics,and patronage in order to realize external publicity.The report is divided into four chapters: Chapter I describes the translation task;Chapter II reviews the translation process;Chapter III analyzes the translation examples;and Chapter IV summarizes the translation practice.In the past studies,the manipulation theory was mainly employed to guide literature translation,and therefore in the main part,the author first demonstrates the applicability of the manipulation theory to news translation,and then analyzes the translation techniques under the three constraints respectively,so as to improve readability,optimize reading experience,and expand public influence.
