Situational teaching method is a relatively mature teaching method commonly used in teaching,and has been widely used in different types of lessons in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Through teaching practice,I have found that Chinese American students have problems such as lack of standardization in writing Chinese vocabulary,inappropriate use of Chinese vocabulary and difficulty in memorizing Chinese vocabulary.In this thesis,the situational approach is introduced into online teaching and learning practice for Chinese vocabulary lessons with a view to improving Chinese vocabulary for Chinese American students.The thesis demonstrates the teaching practice of Chinese vocabulary lessons of“Raising the National Flag” and “The Little Snail” based on the realistic,relevant and interesting characteristics of the scenario-based teaching method,following the principles of participation,step by step teaching,intensive teaching and communicative teaching of the scenario-based teaching method,combined with Chinese-American students’ characteristic and the special mode of online teaching.Through the use of the situational approach in teaching practice,the author finds that online scenario creation has unique advantages in that teachers can use photos,videos and other relevant materials in real time to attract students’ attention,enliven the classroom atmosphere and enhance students’ participation in class.In addition,through the analysis of Chinese vocabulary assessments and questionnaires for ethnic Chinese students,the author believes that the scenario-based approach can create a relaxed and enjoyable teaching atmosphere,enhance students’ attention in class and help them improve their Chinese vocabulary.Finally,based on the teaching practice and with the aim of improving ethnic Chinese students’ Chinese vocabulary,the author proposes seven suggestions for optimization at three levels: the scenario creation level includes focusing on the diversity of scenario teaching;the teacher level includes gasping the role positioning,fully understanding the students,teaching according to their abilities and appropriately adjusting the coursework;and the platform level includes developing long-term teachers and improving the platform functions.It’s hoped that the teaching practice experience and optimization suggestions in this thesis can provide some reference and reference for online Chinese teaching or teaching Chinese vocabulary to ethnic Chinese students.
