A Report On Post-Editing Of The Metaverse(Excerpt) Based On The Multidimensional Quality Metrics Model

Although Neural Machine Translation(NMT)technology has been used to improve machine translation quality,it cannot fully meet the requirements.Therefore,the translation model of Machine Translation and post-editing(MTPE)has gradually become mainstream.This paper is a translation practice report based on the introduction to the fifth chapter of The Metaverse.The source text is a science and technology text,which mainly introduces the emerging concept of “metaverse”,involving science and technology,business,video games,movies,and other fields.The source text is fluent and logical,and contains a large number of professional terms,which is suitable for MTPE translation mode.The translator used Youdao Translate for pre-translation and then post-edited the machine translation version.In this report,the error types of machine translation are analyzed by means of case analysis based on the Multidimensional Quality Metrics(MQM)model of Translation;the methods of postediting are then proposed.The translator finds that the MQM model provides an objective standard for translation quality assessment,and to a large extent eliminates the possible bias and other errors caused by human subjective thinking.Using this model,post-editors can accurately and quickly find machine translation errors and correct them.The error types covered by the model are comprehensive and the content are detailed,which can play a great role in improving post-editing efficiency.In addition,to promote the development of the field of post-editing,the translator tried to make personal suggestions for post editors,the online machine translation industry,and universities,through the research on the relevant content of post-editing.
