As a new form of visual media, the theoretical framework for VR imaging is currently incomplete.Although many works have been created, there are numerous issues with VR imaging, and there is an urgent need for theoretical guidance in its creation.Furthermore, the existing theoretical frameworks for traditional media are not suitable for the new environment of VR imaging, which requires the development of a new narrative theory based on its unique spatial storytelling characteristics. The Audiovisual Language of VR imaging differs significantly from traditional media, particularly in terms of temporal and spatial storytelling. The technique of" Spatio-Temporal Coexistence," which involves placing narrative elements in the same space,is a powerful tool for addressing the unique spatial characteristics of VR imaging.By leveraging the 360-degree"canvas" of VR,spatial montage has the potential to overcome the temporal and spatial limitations of VR,resulting in more effective storytelling. In my research on the narrative features of virtual reality imaging,I developed a model structure for spatial montage based on the language structure of "morphemes+grammar=language." Drawing on theories such as spatial montage and database cinema,I analyzed their grammatical features and used them to define spatial montage,as well as to explain its aesthetic characteristics. Then,I defined the morphemes based on the inherent characteristics of the medium and narrative features. Finally,I developed a complete theoretical framework for the creation of spatial montage techniques, with logical structures based on the specific features of each technique.A control experiment was designed to compare the narrative effects and visual expressions of time montage and spatiotemporal coexistence technique.
