Perception is a basic cognitive activity of human beings and an important way for them to know and acquire knowledge.Traditional philosophers believe that the body is passively stimulated to produce sensory material, and its role in perception can be neglected.Merleau-Ponty believes that the traditional theory of perception does not reveal the essence of perception, and he uses phenomenological methods to return to the field of perception and reveal body-subject.However,Merleau-Ponty’s theory of embodied perception is not anhydrous, but deeply influenced by Husserl’s later genesis phenomenology.During the Emergent Phenomenology period,Husserl reintroduced the“body”into his philosophy, first distinguishing between two bodies, the body(Korper)and the body(Leib),pointing out that it is the body(Leib)that plays a role in perception. Then it discusses the kinesthesia of the body and the role of the body as the "origin" in perception.Merleau-Ponty is inspired by Husserl’s view of the role of the body in perception, but Merleau-Ponty’s theory of embodied perception is not a simple inheritance of Husserl, but has its original and unique significance. In this paper,Merleau-Ponty’s transcendence of Husserl is divided into two parts.Firstly,Merleau-Ponty expands the scope of Husserl’s subject body, where body is the unity of mind and body, which breaks the dualism of body and mind.Secondly,Merleau-Ponty transforms the intentionality of Husserl’s consciousness into the intentionality of body, and the body with intentionality has the subjectivity meaning. Thus,on the basis of Husserl’s revelation of the role of the body in perception,Merleau-Ponty continued to push forward, eventually establishing the whole perception on the body. The body revealed by Merleau-Ponty provides us with abundant theoretical resources to discuss the relationship between technology and body.
