The Effect Of Parenting Style On Academic Engagement In Middle School Students | Posted on:2024-01-28 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:Z X Cui | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2545306935950869 | Subject:Mental health education | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Learning engagement refers to a positive state of mind exhibited by individuals in the learning process,which reflects their enthusiasm and devotion to learning.It can be used to predict students’ academic performance and education quality.Learning engagement is influenced by environmental factors,such as parenting style;It is also influenced by individual factors,such as personality variables such as time management tendency and core self-evaluation.It is very important to explore the influence of various factors on students’ learning involvement.The method of questionnaire survey was adopted in this study.Middle school students from 4 middle schools in Jinan were selected as the test objects and 724 questionnaires were distributed.SPSS23.0 was used for statistical analysis of the data.This paper explores the relationship between middle school students’ learning engagement and their parents’ parenting style,and further explores the mechanism of time management tendency and core self-evaluation.The study reached the following conclusions:(1)Positive parenting styles are more likely to be adopted by parents of middle school students,and middle school students show above average levels in time management,core self-evaluation and learning engagement.(2)Parents of middle school students have significant differences in positive parenting styles in terms of mother’s education level;negative parenting styles in terms of gender;time management tendency in terms of parents’ education level;core self-evaluation in terms of gender,family residence,grade and parents’ education level.There are significant differences in learning engagement in terms of gender,grade and parents’ education level.(3)There is a significant correlation between parenting style,time management tendency,core self-evaluation and learning engagement of middle school students.(4)Core self-evaluation and time management inclination play a mediating role in the influence of middle school students’ parenting style on learning engagement.(5)Time management inclination and core self-evaluation have significant chain mediating effects on parenting style and learning engagement of middle school students.From the perspectives of changing the parenting style,improving students’ time management ability and adjusting the level of core self-evaluation,this study puts forward effective educational strategies to stimulate the learning motivation of middle school students from the level of school,parents,students themselves and society. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Learning engagement, Parenting style, Time management disposition, Core self-evaluation, Middle school student | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
