Middle school is an important period for the physical and mental development of teenagers.Middle school students are still in the transition period of psychological development from immature to mature.In this stage,the external physical performance and internal psychological experience of middle school students are in a state of imbalance,with large emotional fluctuations and emotional reactions.There will be a lot of contradictions and obstacles in the process of psychological development.Therefore,the cultivation and development of middle school students’ emotional regulation ability is an urgent issue.This study is guided by music psychotherapy,adopts the form of group counseling,integrates music art,and uses the form of music group counseling to improve the emotional regulation ability of middle school students.It is an active attempt to broaden the activities of middle school mental health education curriculum,as well as an innovative and positive intervention research.This study is divided into two parts.In the first part,696 middle school students were surveyed by the Questionnaire of Adolescent Emotional regulation Ability,and the current situation of middle school students’ emotional regulation ability was analyzed.In the second part,on the basis of the investigation of middle school students’ emotional regulation ability,according to the emotional characteristics of middle school students,Orff music teaching method,group dynamics as the theoretical basis,formulate the corresponding musical group counseling program and intervention.Using the method of pre and post test intervention,this study selected a class with weak emotional regulation ability in the second grade of H Middle School in Nanning as the experimental class,and selected a homogeneous class in the second grade of S Middle School in Nanning as the control class,and crried out a two-month music group counseling intervention course for the experimental class.After the intervention study,the post-test data were collected,and the data software SPSS 21.0 was used for data statistics and analysis,and the research results were obtained and discussed.The results of the study showed that,1.The overall emotional regulation ability of middle school students is at an average level,and the score of girls’ emotional regulation ability is significantly higher than that of boys.There are significant differences between grades in the two dimensions of emotional regulation self-efficacy and the ability to effectively apply emotional regulation strategies.2.Music group counseling can effectively improve the emotional regulation ability of middle school students.After the musical group counseling intervention,most of the students’ emotions have been significantly improved,and the emotional regulation ability of both male and female students has been significantly improved.
