In the field of Chinese international education, promoting Chinese culture is also very important in addition to language teaching. In order to promote Chinese culture at the Confucius Institute in the Republic of Congo(Brazzaville),this study focuses on the Confucius Institute and its students, and uses literature analysis, induction, quantitative statistics, and questionnaire surveys to analyze the current situation of cultural promotion in Brazzaville and the needs of students for learning Chinese culture. This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly introduces the background, purpose, significance, current situation, and research methods of the study. The second chapter analyzes the current situation of promoting Chinese culture in the Confucius Institute of Congo Brazzaville,it summarizes the main characteristics of the Confucius Institute’s Chinese culture promotion over the years. The third chapter investigates the needs of students at the Confucius Institute in Brazzaville for learning Chinese culture, and through a questionnaire survey analyzes the purposes of cultural learning and the various cultural needs of students. The fourth chapter discusses the relevant issues and strategies for promoting Chinese culture in the Confucius Institute. The conclusion is the final chapter. This study found that the main reasons for learners to study Chinese culture are to obtain scholarships for further studies in China or to work in local Chinese companies in Congo Brazzaville.Learners’ demands for Chinese cultural content mainly focus on the cultural knowledge required for the HSK exam,as well as aspects such as economy, society, customs, and art.Additionally, students prefer cultural learning methods that involve visual experiences and hands-on activities.Although the Confucius Institute in Congo Brazzaville has achieved certain results,it still faces the following significant problems: insufficient cultural teaching, some issues with teaching materials, not evident effectiveness of cultural teaching,Chinese culture teaching is neglect during, subjectivity and one-sidedness in course design, and a lack of specialized culture courses. The cultural activities offered are relatively limited, and there is a lack of facilities. To address these issues,we propose the establishment of four types of culture courses at the Confucius Institute in Congo(Brazzaville). In terms of teaching content,it is recommended to incorporate cultural projects and knowledge into the teaching materials, strike a proper balance between promoting modern culture and not neglecting traditional cultural content, continuously update the teaching materials, and introduce Congo Brazzaville culture in teaching to enhance the relevance and rationality of cultural content. In terms of teaching methods, diversified teaching approaches are recommended. For cultural activities, adherence to principles of diversity and fun is suggested, and regular organization of diverse cultural activities is encouraged. It is also recommended to establish cooperative relationships with the local community to facilitate access to venues and facilities they can provide. This thesis aims to analyze the current situation of promoting Chinese culture at the Confucius Institute in Congo Brazzaville and the needs of students for learning Chinese culture, and to provide reference for the Confucius Institute to promote the development of Chinese cultural promotion work.Through the research in this thesis, the promotion of Chinese culture in the Confucius Institute can be better understood, and corresponding promotion strategies and suggestions can be proposed based on students’ needs and feedback, thus further improving the quality and effectiveness of the Confucius Institute’s promotion of Chinese culture. |
