Chinese traditional culture is an important logical premise for Liang Qichao to accept western socialist thought. With the translation of Yan Fu’s "Evolution of Heaven" and Kang Youwei’s inheritance and re-play of it,Chinese traditional culture has realized the transformation of modernity to a certain extent on the basis of the evolutionary view of history and the reality of modern China. The "ideal of Great Harmony" through the transformation of modernity reflects the modern growth of Chinese traditional culture on the one hand, and endows the ideal pursuit in the traditional society with new times connotation on the other hand. This provided Liang Qichao with a logical premise for the integration of traditional culture and Western thought, and also established a rational cultural space for the combination of Datong ideal and western socialist thought.Out of the anxiety of national crisis and national independence, nationalism is another important logical basis for Liang Qichao to explore the road of Chinese socialism. The core problem of modern China’s development is how to realize modernization, which in Liang Qichao’s opinion is the transformation from a traditional agricultural country to a modern industrial country. Therefore,it is very important to give priority to the development of industry under a certain political order. It was also confined to the maintenance of the existing political order that Liang Qichao could not have the courage to break the existing economic organization,so he embarked on the path of gradual improvement. Therefore,Liang Qichao rooted the "spirit" of socialism in the soil of Chinese traditional culture, carried out the exploration of the "method" of Chinese socialism under the framework of nationalism, and finally formed his own unique thought of "national socialism" on the basis of emphasizing the existing political order. However, due to the historical view of evolution and reformism,Liang Qichao was unable to realize the unity of nationalism and proletarian revolutionary view.As a result, his interpretation of socialism included thinking and creation,as well as limitations and misunderstandings:The excessive dependence on traditional culture, the shackles of nationalism, and the exclusion of proletarian revolution all make the socialist plan that Liang Qichao finally envisioned gradually lose the support of reality in China’s specific national conditions.Out of the same fear of national peril, many early Chinese Communists also interpreted Western socialist thoughts on the basis of Chinese traditional culture and nationalism.Different from Liang Qichao,Chinese Communists did not fall into the shackles of nationalism in the end,but gradually changed from moderation to radicalism and from nationalism to firm communism under the urging of practice and theory. The path of their ideological transformation is consistent with the transformation of modern Chinese ideological circles from nationalism and nationalism to socialism and communism. The key to this transformation lies in the unification of nationalism and proletarian revolutionary views.
