Students of Traditional Chinese Medicine colleges are more likely to experience negative academic emotion due to their major characteristics,which means they face great academic pressure and are in a highly competitive environment for a long time.Negative academic emotion is unfavorable to many aspects of students’ learning.This study in order to explore the internal influence mechanism of negative academic emotion and explore effective intervention methods to reduce negative academic emotion.In terms of research methods,students in Traditional Chinese Medicine colleges were selected as the research object.In study 1,1026 students in Traditional Chinese Medicine colleges were investigated on the relationship among parental rejection,academic achievement attribution,academic self-efficacy,and negative academic emotion by questionnaire.In study 2,80 students recruited from the same Traditional Chinese Medicine college were divided into experimental group(40 students)and control group(40 students).Group counseling was used to reduce their negative academic emotion by improving their academic self-efficacy.The main results of this study are as follows:First,on demographic differences,parental rejection,academic achievement attribution,academic self-efficacy and negative academic emotion of students in Traditional Chinese Medicine colleges are significantly different in genders(male,female)and origins(rural,urban).The low arousal dimension of negative academic emotion has significant difference in majors(medical,non-medical).The internal attribution of success,the internal attribution of failure,and the external attribution of failure have significant differences in whether they are the only child(yes,no).Second,parental rejection,academic achievement attribution,academic self-efficacy and negative academic emotion were significantly correlated with each other.Thirdly,academic achievement attribution and academic self-efficacy have significant mediating and chain mediating effects between parental rejection and negative academic emotion.Fourthly,the academic self-efficacy of the students in the experimental group increased significantly,while the negative academic emotion decreased significantly after group counseling.The control group without group counseling had no significant changes in academic self-efficacy and negative academic emotion.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:Parental rejection,academic achievement attribution,academic self-efficacy and negative academic emotion of students in Traditional Chinese Medicine colleges have chain mediating effects.Group counseling can effectively improve students’ academic selfefficacy and reduce their negative academic emotion.
