| English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 edition,2020revision)emphasizes that the core accomplishment of a subject is the concentrated embodiment of the value of educating people of a subject,and it is the correct value,essential character and key ability gradually formed by students through the study of a subject.Among them,the goal of cultural awareness is to acquire cultural knowledge,understand cultural connotations,compare cultural similarities and differences,absorb cultural essence,form correct values,strengthen cultural confidence,form a good character of self-esteem,self-confidence and self-improvement,and have a certain ability to communicate and spread Chinese culture across cultures.Under the background that all high school in Tongiao region will be replaced with the new high school English textbook in the autumn of 2022,this study aims to investigate the current situation of Chinese culture teaching in senior high school English classrooms in Tongliao region based on the human-education Edition of senior high School English textbook(2019 edition),so as to put forward more targeted suggestions for the realization of cultural awareness in the core literacy of English subjects.This study takes 23 teachers and 138 students from Tongliao No.5 Senior High School as the research objects.Based on intercultural communication theory and cultural response teaching theory,through text analysis,questionnaire survey,classroom observation and interview,this study mainly discusses two questions:(1)What is the current situation of Chinese culture teaching in Tongliao high school English curriculum based on the human-education version of high school English textbook(2019 edition)?(2)What suggestions should be put forward to further optimize the Chinese culture teaching of senior high school English courses in Tongliao based on the textbooks?This study draws the following conclusions: 1.Teachers generally have a sufficient understanding of Chinese culture teaching in English classrooms.Second,the teaching method of Chinese culture adopted by teachers is relatively simple,mainly direct teaching based on textbooks.3.Class hours,evaluation and teachers’ literacy influence Chinese cultural teaching.Finally,according to the above research conclusions,the author puts forward relevant suggestions for teachers,students and examination evaluation.For example,teachers should strengthen the study of the new curriculum standards and have an in-depth understanding of the requirements of Chinese culture in the New Curriculum Standards.At the same time,teachers should enhance their knowledge reserve of Chinese culture and improve their English expression ability of Chinese culture. |
