Abstract/Summary:
This article takes Toru Takemitsu’s mid-term work "November Steps" as the research object.A commissioned work for the 125 th anniversary of the Symphony Orchestra.At this time,Toru Takemitsu was influenced by John Cage and began to re-examine traditional Japanese music.In the work "November Steps",Takemitsu combined the shakuhachi,biwa,and Western orchestras.The solo instruments,string groups,harps,and percussion groups of the orchestra are arranged and numbered in the number of seats.The symmetrical relationship establishes a sound space that penetrates and collides with each other.This article takes Toru Takemitsu’s mid-term work "November Steps" as the research object,and sorts out and summarizes the speed,time signature,orchestration,structure,and other aspects of the work.This thesis is divided into six chapters.The first chapter mainly discusses the life of Toru Takemitsu and a brief introduction to the work "November Steps".The second chapter is to analyze the work from three aspects of speed,beat,and rhythm.The third chapter mainly analyzes the sound space configuration of the work,the orchestration of eleven steps,and the special performance skills of solo instruments.The fourth chapter analyzes the musical structure and musical materials of the work.The fifth chapter discusses the aesthetics of Japanese music,the purpose of which is to summarize Toru Takemitsu’s creative concept and its influence on modern Japanese music in the conclusion.
