| Chopin is one of the most famous composers in the history of Polish music,and the most important representative of the European Romantic school of the 19 th century,known as the "Piano Poet".His piano music is extremely rich,and his characteristic "Chopin style" is reflected in his beautiful melodies,varied weaving,and novel harmonic language.He made a significant contribution to Romantic music,especially to the formation and development of the European folk music schools of the later period.Szymanowski is one of the representative figures of the nationalist music genre in the 20 th century,another milestone composer in the history of Polish music after Chopin,and is regarded as the "father of modern Polish music".The signature features of Szymanowski’s music are his inheritance and exploration of Polish folk music,his continuation and development of Chopin’s music,and his skillful use of modern harmonic vocabulary.His musical works played a very important role in the development of Polish music in the 20 th century and laid the foundation for later composers.The paper consists of an introduction,five chapters and a conclusion.Among them,the introductory section introduces the origin of the topic,the current state of research,and the purpose and methodology of the study.Chapters 1 to 5 are the main content of the paper.Chapter 1 introduces the two composers and their works;Chapters 2 and 3 analyze the tonal layout and thematic characteristics of the two works,as well as their ethnicity;Chapter 4 analyzes the harmonic techniques of the two works in terms of chord structure and harmonic progression;Chapter 5 explores the inheritance and innovation of the harmonic language in the two works.In the concluding section,the inheritance and development of the harmonic language in the two works are summarized. |
