Due to the volatility of the financial market caused by the global shortage of resources, the oil trade market is inevitably affected. The translation of oil economic and trade texts is of great significance to the development of the financial market. This report selects oil economic and trade text,Oil,Gas and Energy Financing(Chapters 1-3),for translation practice, which introduces the knowledge of how to trade energy in the financial market, the introduction of related financial instruments, and how to avoid financial risks. Its Chinese translation can make the target readers understand the operation of the energy financial market.Based on the analysis of linguistic features of the original text, this report chooses Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory as the guide, follows the readercentered principle, and completes the translation practice. In addition,it summarizes and analyzes the problems encountered in translation practice and their corresponding solutions from the lexical, syntactic, and textual levels to form a translation practice report,to provide reference for the translation of similar texts. The main findings are as follows: at the lexical level, some words have no fixed meaning and need to be determined according to the context. To solve this problem, the main translation techniques are: extending semantic meanings;explicating semantic meanings;varying and adapting semantic meanings.Secondly,at the syntactic level, the main techniques used to solve the problem of sentence writing order and form are: following the original syntactic order;turning phrases into clauses;reinventing the sentence structure. Finally, vocabulary repetition and logical order adjustment are used to achieve textual cohesion and coherence.
