Dunhuang music and dance murals are the product of the combination of Chinese thought and culture and Buddhist art,and are an important heritage of Chinese art and culture.This paper takes Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty as the research object,and tries to explore the significance of Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty from the perspective of semiotics.This article has three parts.The first part is the introduction;The second part is the text,which is divided into three chapters: The first chapter discusses the background of the Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty,the function of the music and dance images,and the characteristics of the Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty;The second chapter discusses the generation and classification of symbols in Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty and Buddhist music thoughts;The third chapter,based on the analysis of the symbols in the Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty and the discussion of the Buddhist music thoughts in the first two chapters,discusses the semiotic significance of the Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty from the formal structure of the symbols,the relationship with the referents and the relationship with people;The third part is the conclusion.Through the discussion of these three parts,this paper believes that the Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty are the product of the combination of ancient Chinese thought and culture,aesthetic culture and Buddhist significance,and are the artistic symbols of the unity of form and concept.From its formal structure,Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty are "meaningful forms";From the perspective of its relationship with the object of indication,the Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty have symbolic significance.People describe the music in the real world in the murals through the way of metaphor and the meaning of Buddhism,thus forming the original Chinese Buddhist art symbols.From the perspective of its relationship with people,Dunhuang music and dance murals have the significance of communication,which is beyond the limits of time and space.Although the Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty imitated the music and dance art of the real world,it was not a representation of reality,it was a existence beyond reality.The Dunhuang music and dance murals in the Middle Tang Dynasty originated from the reality and were higher than the reality,and even exceeded the practical significance.
