| Founded in Shanghai,Shen Bao is a commercial Chinese newspaper with the longest existence and the most extensive influence in modern China. It has consistently, extensively and comprehensively reported China’s society, politics, economy, culture and other fields from 1872 to 1949,adhering to the news concept of"whatever you hear must be recorded".Among them, there are abundant reports about Japanese folk music. From the news reports of relevant practical activities, advertisements to the articles of chronicle and research, the communication path and degree of modern Japanese folk music in Shanghai and the musical life of overseas Japanese in Shanghai are presented in a real and vivid image.Based on the historical materials of traditional Japanese folk music in the narrow sense in Shen Bao,this paper intends to classify and sort out the existence of Japanese folk music in modern Shanghai. At the same time, combined with the background of urbanization and diversified music culture in Shanghai, from an open academic standpoint and from the research perspective of musical anthropology, the Japanese folk music in modern Shanghai is placed in the social, economic, political and cultural background to care for,and its function, effect and influence are analyzed, studied and elaborated through historical materials. The research finds that from the static presentation in the"cultural space" of the material form "Shen Bao" to the dynamic participation in the development of Shanghai’s urban culture, modern Japanese folk music has carried out a relatively comprehensive and in-depth "plan" of dissemination, penetration and invasion in Shanghai by relying on the Japanese overseas Chinese society in Shanghai and with the power of mass media. In this "plan",Japanese folk music practice has undeniably played a positive role in promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries, adjusting citizens’ taste for entertainment and life, and triggering people’s reflection on the development of Chinese music. However, the real purpose of cultural invasion behind it has had a long-term and negative impact on the country and people. In this regard,we should face up to this history. At the same time, the change of the identity of Japanese folk music in modern Shanghai from "carrier of cultural exchange" to "weapon of cultural invasion" also suggests that we should formulate corresponding cultural policies to prevent cultural invasion while developing multi-culture. |
