The English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High School(2020 edition)puts forward higher requirements for developing students’ reading ability and also emphasizes cultivating students’ core competence in question situations.Therefore,this research analyzes the questions asked by teachers in English reading classes in a senior high school and studies the design of the question chain.The question chain emphasizes that teachers should scientifically design a series of questions to promote students’ knowledge acquisition and improve students’ reading ability.The research is based on Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives,the theory of question continuum,and the constructionist learning theory.Three questions are answered:(1).What is the current situation of the question chain teaching design in English reading class for developing students’ reading ability?(2).How should the question chain teaching design framework be constructed to improve students’ reading ability?(3).What influence does the use of framework have on improving students’ reading ability?This study first uses the literature research method to sort out the research status and questionnaires to know the teaching status of the question chain design.The results show that although most of the teachers involved in the study have a basic understanding of question chain teaching,the problems designed by teachers lack integrity,and teachers also neglect the cultivation of students’ learning interests and question-solving abilities.Based on the existing problems,the researcher discusses design principles and strategies of the question chain design and forms a question chain teaching design framework,mainly including the analysis of basic points for designing question chain,the selection,analysis,and optimization of the questions and the design of activities for each question chain.Third,the researcher tries to use the question chain design framework in reality to test its validity.At the end of this study,questionnaires and tests were used.From the analysis of the final results,it can be found that students’ participation in English class and question awareness have been improved.And the use of the question chain teaching design framework has a positive influence on students’ reading ability. |
