| With the constant development of globalization,English plays an increasingly prominent role in international communication.In the past,oral English teaching always had the disadvantage of "separation of learning and application." Given this,Professor Wen Qiufang put forward a foreign language teaching theory with Chinese characteristics-the "Production-Oriented Approach"(POA for short).POA has dramatically solved the practical problems faced by oral English teaching.Through the efforts of many scholars,the research of POA has been enriched,and its theory has been rapidly developed and improved.Through the review of previous literature,it is found that the application and research of POA are mainly concentrated in higher education.The application research in primary education is relatively scarce,especially in senior high school oral English teaching.The author tries to apply POA to the oral English class of a senior high school in the stage of primary education and focuses on whether POA can promote the oral English teaching of senior high school students.Specific research questions are as follows:(1)What is the current situation of oral English teaching for high school students?(2)Can POA oral English teaching in senior high school improve the fluency,accuracy,and complexity of oral expression of senior high school students?(3)Can POA oral English teaching in high school improve students’ autonomous participation in the classroom,learning initiative,and learning interest?Firstly,to understand the current situation of oral English teaching in high school,the author distributed questionnaires to 180 students in grade two and then conducted a four-month study with 50 students in class two at Harbin No.9 Middle School.Combined with the data analysis results of the questionnaire survey,oral test,observation scale,and interview outline,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)The low level of spoken English in senior high school is mainly due to the problem of "separation of learning and application" in oral English teaching in senior high school and the shortcomings of teachers in teaching task design and evaluation.(2)POA oral teaching can improve students’ oral expression fluency,accuracy,and complexity.(3)POA oral English teaching can improve students’ autonomous participation in the classroom,personal initiative,and interest in learning.Given the small sample size of this study,limited teaching practice time,and less teaching experience and other actual conditions,this topic still has many deficiencies and needs to be improved.This study only puts forward some tentative suggestions and prospects for applying POA in oral English teaching in senior high schools,hoping to provide teaching enlightenment for English teachers to apply POA in oral English teaching in the future and provide a reference for further promotion and research of POA theory. |
