As for the research on the factors influencing the division of labor,the academic circle has made abundant achievements,but no unanimous conclusion has been reached.The existing researches mainly discuss the influence of economic and social factors on the division of labor from the aspects of production factors,industrial structure,transportation and system.Accelerate development to form a new pattern of development with internal circulation as the main body and domestic and international mutual promotion,which is particularly important to break through the "obstruction" of economic internal circulation and form an effective internal division of labor system.This paper studies the influence of cultural development differences on professional division of labor,and takes dialect diversity as the breakthrough point to confirm the important influence of culture.This paper argues that cultural and dialect diversity is one of the deep reasons for regional specialization differences.The diversity of dialects will form trust barriers between regions,shorten the radius of social trust and increase the cost of social transaction,thus affecting the market scale,urbanization,human capital and technology flow,and hindering the development of regional specialization.At the same time,this paper analyzes the mechanism of regional dialect diversity affecting the development of regional specialization,which shows for the first time that trust plays an important role in the process,and provides a beneficial supplement for the research and development of regional specialization in China.Based on the data of dialect diversity and urban division of labor in 264 prefecturelevel cities in China,the empirical study finds that dialect diversity is an important factor that inhibits urban specialization.A series of robustness tests and instrumental variable estimation show the robustness of the estimation results.On average,the level of urban division of labor will decrease by 3.11% with each increase of dialect types,which means that the level of specialized division of labor in the top 5% areas is about 21.77% lower than that in the bottom 5% areas.This study emphasizes that to break through the "obstruction" of the inner cycle,it is necessary to encourage the flow of elements,promote the urbanization process with the construction of the urban circle as the main body,and then break the identity mechanism behind the dialect and break the cultural barrier.The results of this study provide useful insights into the influence of cultural and linguistic diversity on the evolution of division of labor.It provides a new policy idea for understanding the "obstruction" of the internal circulation.
